The Illuminations have been a major part of Blackpool’s attraction since 1879. This year, in an effort to boost tourism following COVID-19, the famous light show will run for an extra two months, from Friday 3rd September 2021 to Monday 3rd January 2022.
The Switch-On
The official switch-on will take place on Friday 3rd September at 8:50pm.
Strictly Come Dancing head judge, Shirley Ballas, will pull the switch to begin the four month long light show, in and amongst musical performances from some of the UK’s top artists, including The Wombats, KSI and Ella Henderson!

The Lightpool Festival
The award-winning Lightpool Festival will return this year, from 15th to 30th October, with an incredible array of light installations, art trails, 3D projections shows and live performances.
